I have always believed that some of the best stories begin when you are not really looking for one.
That was certainly the case on a recent Saturday when I found myself at Eataly in West Palm Beach. I sat down for lunch, looked around, and immediately realized I was surrounded by the kind of food that makes you want to photograph everything before you even figure out exactly what you are eating.
In fact, I snapped a picture of my food and, if I am being completely honest, I could not even tell you exactly what it was.
And I loved that.
Everything looked beautiful. Everything smelled incredible. Every plate seemed to tell its own little Italian story. I was less concerned with memorizing the menu and more interested in enjoying the experience in front of me.
My Saturday lunch was simply divine.
Then there was the Italian cola.
There is something wonderfully uncomplicated about sitting down, ordering something cold to drink, enjoying a beautiful meal and letting the afternoon unfold. No itinerary. No airport. No passport required. Just a little taste of Italy right here in West Palm Beach.
Eataly is exactly the kind of place I enjoy discovering because it feels like more than simply going out to eat. It is an experience where food, culture and atmosphere come together. The West Palm Beach location is in CityPlace at 580 Hibiscus Street, and it brings that unmistakable Italian sensibility into the heart of the city.
If you are in West Palm Beach, stop in for a bite. Order something beautiful. Have an Italian cola. Explore a little. You may even take a picture of your food and realize afterward that you have absolutely no idea what you just ate.
And honestly, that might be the best part.
